One of the drawbacks to a wooden doors besides there price comes from the increased maintenance that is required to keep them looking great. Granted you do want the weather look for your door but if you do not keep it sealed it will crack and warp. Wood garage doors are very pleasing to eye if they are maintained properly. In general wood is a good insulator but cannot match the insulation efficiency of foam insulation. Another drawback to a wood door is the lack of strength and security that galvanized steel carriage garage doors can provide.
Today, contemporary style garage doors are making a strong design statement all across the country. Although carriage style doors are all the rage again this year, they simply don′t fit the design style of many modern homes. Sleek, contemporary architecture calls for a garage door that will complement the look, not detract from or clash with it. Beyond boosting curb appeal, sleek roll-up doors are finding their way inside the home also.
Second, think about the light. Your garage door should also work as a window, not just as a door. One could benefit this if in case you′ll be working in your garage - nothing beats a natural light. It is a good move if you are going to add windows to your door. It might be quite expensive but it would surely make your garage a pleasant place to be at.
